Alexandra Shepherd - Classical Guitarist

Alexandra Shepherd is an Australian classical guitarist and has performed both nationally and internationally. In 2017 she travelled to South Korea with the Elder Conservatorium Classical Guitar Ensemble where she performed at the 2017 Korean International Guitar Festival as an ensemble member and a soloist. Alex has also performed at the 2014, 2016 and 2018 Adelaide International Guitar Festival as part of the Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra and the Elder Conservatorium Classical Guitar Ensemble. In 2019 Alex performed at multiple venues across Ontario, Canada. Alex has also performed around Adelaide and regional South Australia.

In 2016 Alex completed her Bachelor of Music - Classical Performance degree at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide and completed her Honours degree in Music Performance the following year. In 2021 Alex completed her Master of Philosophy at the Elder Conservatorium researching extended techniques and descriptive score annotations in contemporary classical guitar compositions. Alex has studied under Dr Oliver Fartach-Naini since 2013 and has received masterclasses with many prominent national and international classical guitarists including Richard Charlton, Raffael Agostino, Timothy Kain, Paul Svoboda, Noyoung Lee, Yongtae Kim, and Martha Masters. 

Reflected in her Masters research, Alex's performance interests focus on repertoire utilising extended techniques to evoke stories and moods within the music.
